Queensland Police sergeant Paul James has been recognised as a hero after giving life-saving CPR to a 10-week-old baby boy.

Sergeant James rose to the challenge of delicately performing CPR on the infant after the child was rushed to Gracemere station in Central Queensland by his frantic mother on September 2nd.

As an officer with 30 years of experience, sergeant James was one of the first personnel to respond, successfully resuscitating baby Lucas.

He described the experience to Cliffo & Gabi this morning as "extremely scary", sharing the team at the station "just kicked in and did our bit".
