A boil water notice (BWN) has been issued for properties connected to the Millstream water supply scheme.

A BWN remains in place for properties:

in the Ravenshoe Road, Carrington Road and Hastie Road areas connected to the Atherton water supply scheme
connected to the Ravenshoe water supply scheme if you received a letter from us regarding ongoing boil water notices (two properties).
Residents at these properties must boil water for consumption until further notice.

We are working closely with Queensland Health (QH) to resolve the situation but the BWN will stay in effect until QH is confident there is no public health risk.

Consumption of unboiled water could lead to illness, especially for vulnerable people (e.g. very young, elderly and those with weak immune systems). If you are concerned that you may have been affected by contaminated water contact 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84), your local doctor or the hospital and advise them about your concerns.

Bring water to a boil by heating until a continuous and rapid stream of air-bubbles is produced from the bottom of a pan or kettle. Kettles with automatic cut-off switches are suitable and variable temperature kettles should be set to boil. After heating, water must be allowed to cool before using it, and be stored in a clean, closed container for later use.

You should boil all water used for:

drinking
brushing teeth
washing and preparing food or beverages
preparing baby formula
making ice
bathing babies and toddlers
Unboiled water may be used for:

showering and bathing (avoid getting water in your mouth)
washing dishes by hand or in a dishwasher
washing clothes
flushing toilets
Notify neighbours and other residents that may be affected by this alert.
